NARI members find little value in lead-gen services

No topic in the remodeling industry draws more comment than the topic of online lead generation companies. There are those who get many jobs from the leads purchased from these companies and there are just as many people who feel cheated.

NARI was curious in the statistics on this subject and added a few questions to its Q4 Remodeling Business Pulse survey in December.

Nearly 49 percent have never used a lead-generation service, nearly 41 percent have previously used a service but don’t any longer and nearly 11 percent currently use a lead-gen service.

Of those who have used a lead-gen service, 67.1 percent rated the experience at a 1 or 2, where a 1 rating equals no benefit. Only 3 percent found it extremely beneficial.

When asked whether he/she would recommend lead-gen services to another remodeler, most members disagreed. The majority of members also disagreed with:

  • the cost of lead-gen services was paid back through extra business
  • that the close rate of leads through these services was higher than average
  • they provide high quality leads
